LateRooms.com - Catch Edvard Munch Exhibition at Centre Pompidou in Paris
The Centre Pompidou's current exhibition of works by Edvard Munch will run until January 23rd.
PARIS, FRANCE, December 08, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People visiting Paris have until Monday January 23rd to see Edvard Munch: L'oeil Moderne at the Centre Pompidou.
The exhibition, which opened in September, showcases a wide-ranging collection of artworks by the Norwegian painter that has never before been displayed in France.
It includes about 80 paintings, 30 artworks done on paper, 50 photographs and a film.
According to the venue, the aim is to present Munch's work in a different light and explore how an interest in different forms of expression influenced his creative output.
The title of the exhibition translates as "the modern eye", which provides a clue to its central themes.
Born in 1863, Munch is most famous for his iconic 1893 painting The Scream, which has famously been the target of several high-profile art thefts over the years.
Admission to the Centre Pompidou, which can be found in the Beauborg district of the French capital, is priced between EUR10 and EUR12 (GBP8.50 and GBP10.30).
The exhibition gallery is open every day between 11:00 and 21:00 local time.
LateRooms.com recommends a large number of Paris hotels that could appeal to art enthusiasts, including the Hotel Montpensier.
