Phuket will be the site of the four-day World Musiq Festival this December, marking the 84th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.


PHUKET, THAILAND, November 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Visitors to Phuket will be able to experience a celebration of international music this December when the World Musiq Festival takes place for the first time in the Thai region.
 
To be held at Saphan Hin public park in Phuket City, the event will run for four days from December 2nd 2011, culminating on the 5th, the date of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 84th birthday.
 
Organised with cooperation from the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation and the Singha Group, the event aims to mark the historic occasion by attracting performers from throughout the world, with ambassadors and dignitaries set to attend.
 
Confirmed acts include popular local artists such as Todd Thongdee Lavelle, as well as Ziv Eithan from Israel, Gnawa from Morocco and Akha from Chiang Rai.
 
Festivities will run between 17:00 and 23:00 local time each night, with events to be enlivened by local food stalls and the nearby light and sound fountain.
 
Meanwhile, a special exhibition entitled Father of Love will be set up as part of the festival in order to further honour the beloved Thai monarch.
 
The World Musiq Festival will be just one of many events marking the royal birthday this December, with the skies above Phuket set to be lit with fireworks on the night.
