LateRooms.com - Enjoy the Latest Exhibition at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin
The Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin is preparing to host its second exhibition of the year, showcasing works by Wangechi Mutu.

BERLIN, GERMANY, March 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anyone who has booked accommodation in Berlin later this year who wants to see some unusual artworks while staying in the city should spend some time at the Deutsche Guggenheim museum.

Located on Unter den Linden, near many of Berlin's most famous museums and monuments - including the book burning memorial at Bebelplatz and the Brandenburg Gate - the exhibition opening on April 30th is a must-see for anyone with a passion for the arts.

It will feature a selection of works by Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu, who was recently named the Artist of the Year 2010 by Deutsche Bank and its Global Art Advisory Council.

The Guggenheim museum in Berlin is situated on the ground floor of the Deutsche Bank premises and offers a gallery space of 510 square metres.

Mutu, who is based in New York, first came to public notice for her collages, which use a host of different materials and "vacillate between beauty and horror".

According to the cultural establishment, Mutu "addresses issues related to black female identity between western consumer culture, African politics and postcolonial history".

This exhibition is the first time that her works have been displayed as solo installations in a German gallery and will run until June 13th.

Entry to the museum is EUR4 (GBP3.60) - except on Mondays when it is free - and the establishment is open every day from 10:00 until 20:00 (local time).

Anyone who wants to learn more about the works on display and the artist herself may be interested in one of the free guided tours offered each day or even one of the regular daily or weekly lectures hosted at the venue.

"The Deutsche Guggenheim's Wangechi Mutu exhibition is likely to be popular," said Jess Reading, head of marketing at LateRooms. "LateRooms strongly recommends people considering attending to book hotels Berlin as soon as possible."
